Snow Days!

That lovely lady up there is my Grandma. I love that photo- it is one of those little photo booth photos. She was born in Poland, had to move to Russia during the war and then ended up in Minnesota. What a life she had. She is up all year round but I like the way she looks with some of the mantle decorations. Here is the whole thing...
That little garland of egg carton bells is one of my very favorite decorations. The kids and I made it a couple of years ago. They painted and sparkled everything and I helped them get the tiny glass balls into the center. They are from my collection of tiny vintage glass balls. I just love it. Here is a better close up: We have been snowed in since Sunday morning. I was pretty bummed initially because I missed Crafty Wonderland! Oh well, there is always next year... We only got a few inches of snow but here in the Pacific NW we are not equipped for that few inches of snow. People can't drive in it, we don't have the number of plows to get the roads all clear and we are very hilly. So there you go. It is a good thing I did a lot of stuff early on because Christmas prep is pretty much at a stand still. But it has been so nice to be home with the kids - doing art projects and baking cookies sledding and playing games. Christmas break started a week early and that extra week of time with my kids is the best Christmas present I could have asked for. Sunday afternoon we packed up 12 tins of cookies we had baked on saturday and took them on a sled to lots of neighbors. Tomorrow the kids want to sew blankets and make a bed out of a box for stuffed animals (a particular stuffed animal named Barky) to give to their cousin for Christmas. We are supposed to get more snow soon but we'll see...they are only right about 50% of the time which is good because if we had as many "Storms of the Century" that they say we do, we would be in a heap of trouble.
Dusty loves the snow!

Happy holidays Mo!
I spy on your wonderful mantle some of my trees and candy canes - very festive! (thank you) I agree we are having some crazy weather - they are predicting really insane weather for tomorrow...I hope it holds off for awhile as I have to get the last of my Christmas shopping done!
