87 degrees...

In my house. And that is not the upstairs temp- it is the middle floor temp. It has to be a good 5 to 10 hotter upstairs. I am not complaining though! Pacific Northwesterners have a tendency (in my experience) to complain about the rain, complain about the cold and then when we get heat, complain about that. I think what I have learned is that folks here like it nice and moderate. I will take the heat over the cold anyday though I would like a tad less heat so we can sleep better at night. No air conditioning for us, which is fine by me. It doesn't make a ton of sense to me when you really don't need it but a handful of days. Enough about the weather!

That is a photo of the goodies I got from Anna Maria Horner and her wonderful blog giveaway. Not sure what I am going to do with it yet but it is all so pretty! I read somewhere that this is a great summer for fabric and you are not kidding. I love Anna Maria's stuff and Heather Ross's Mendocino is out now and the new Amy Butler home dec stuff is reeaaalllyyy pretty.

I told the kids the other day that I wouldn't be buying them Christmas presents. They just stared at me stone faced. Then I explained I would be making them and that got me off the hook. I am officially over the whole gross materialization of the holidays so it is home made all the way this year. I ordered some great fabrics for the kids and I am going to make them quilts. I think my Mom and Sister will also get quilts. Any other hot ideas out there for me?

I have to wrap this up- I can hear the pool calling!

Good for you on the Christmas thing. I've been doing that for about five years now. The only person that I buy store-bought things for is my husband, because it's the one time of year besides our birthdays that we spend money on eachother. My family has adjusted just fine, and they look forward to the handmade gifts.

I've been running a thread on Craftster for the past couple of years called the All Year Christmas Craft-a-Long: It's to inspire people who want to make all of their gifts to work on it a little bit each month, instead of going INSANE in November. Which I have done, and it sucks! There are quite a few ideas to be had there :)

Good luck on your Christmas crafting!

I too am going to be making presents this year. I'm so bored with the list from Amazon. Regarding the heat, I love it and I love being warm. My trick is to wet my head. It is really refreshing and cooling.
