Finally!!!

It has been a long time since the last good estate sale. I mean a loooooong time. We found one saturday and we were not disapointed. What is it about buying other people's crap that I find so great? The little yellow cat is actually a pencil sharpener- you sharpen your pencil in the hole in his belly and then the feet swivel around so you can dump out the shavings. I had this very one when I was little so it was a buck I was happy to part with. I got the enamel pin and earrings for $5. The earrings are clips that would have you bleeding in a matter of minutes so I need to figure out how to make them posts. They are so cute and perfect for spring. That little basket of fruit is a keychain or something. Just too cute to leave there. Next we got a bag of buttons for $5. I quickly pulled out some of my favorites- there are a lot of good ones. I am going to pick out the ones I love and then let the kids do whatever they like with the rest.
I love those little swirly goldish glass ones. We also got a nice hose reel with lots of hose for $9. We have a large yard so it will be a nice addition- that poor lilac in the very back corner may get watered this summer. We got to have a date to the Garden Show yesterday. We try to go every year- there is still so much to do in our yard it is nice to get some inspiration. I have to say that one day I will build a big brick outdoor fireplace. There is just something so great about a big fireplace outside. The show was not as good as last year but we played games to make it more interesting- you got a point for every mullet, crazy knitted sweater and lost husband you could spot. We also had a good chuckle from the guy who looked deep into my husband's eyes and asked him how "How is your nozzle working" and the old guy walking around with his ,F@@k milk, Got Pot?" Tshirt on. We were able to buy some great Dahlia bulbs and this year I will put them somewhere safe as last years Dahlia bulbs came home in a paper sack and my husband put them in recycling. Recycled $35 worth of bulbs. He also recycled a bag full of vintage children's sewing patterns but that is a story for another day...

Your buttons have me drooling! I find lots of good stuff when I garage sale, but buttons seem to elude me. I have so enjoyed my gift of valentines you sent. They are so beautiful! And the dark chocolate...my favorite! Thank you so much :)

Just found your blog earlier from Kim at CreativeBlogspot and then you POSTED on my blog...did you see my post on her blog, too crazy!!

Oh and I love, love, love your button stash...I think those pink swirly ones you were ooooooing over were on a dress I had when I was about 7...does that make me vintage??? hmmm

I loved the story of making a game of things at the Garden Show...I'll have to try that out next time we're at a boring business party! We used to do that with my poor mother-in-law...sad I know...but she has this terrible, terrible habit of talking when her mouth is at its fullest...so instead of being disgusted by it we would make up some type of signal phrase beforehand such as "how about them Cowboys?" when she did it...then we would keep count...yea...sad I know...and the kids played, too! This was after they were in college though! Yes...I'm a bad daughter in law!

Thanks for stopping by my blog...I'm loving yours...and your little gals boots are CUTE and with that skirt...a punkin she is!

Blessings...
Teresa

Mo, thanks for the comment reminding me about the MS Kids mags. Your email must have gotten lost in the last-weeks-at-work deluge. Could you email me at schlumpfh (at) yahoo (dot) com, and I'll send you my address. Thanks!

I just discovered your blog, and I am enjoying it very much! I think your "basket of flowers" in the first photo may be a vintage Barbie purse!

The leather replica handbags is not the standard brown though. louis vuitton comes in red, orange, blue, green, pink, and black. louis vuitton handbags are monochromatic; any combination of color would make the jewel tones overwhelming. The monogram is stamped into the leather and the glossy finish allows louis vuitton bags to pop out when the light hits it right.
